CRITERIA FOR ASIU COURSES
Develop skills in understanding written, aural, visual, or other forms of art in one or more media
To learn to situate these works within their historical and geographical context with the help of texts from other disciplines such as philosophy, history, sociology, and theories of perception
Enhance students’ awareness of ways in which aesthetic and cultural objects acquire value and significance
Explore theoretical, philosophical, historical, political and social issues concerning the production and reception of aesthetic works
Develop skills in expressing written and oral criticism of artistic images, sounds, and texts
Where practicable and appropriate, explore the aesthetic life of the city through visits to exhibitions, performances, and readings, or interactions with performers, directors, and curators
Widen the imagination of students by undertaking creative work
