CRITERIA FOR SOSC COURSES
Expose students to basic theories in the social sciences, methods of analysis, critical assessment and interpretation
Introduce students to the ways in which humans organize, structure, rationalize, and govern their diverse societies and cultures over time
Show connections between social formations such as religion, economy, state, and family through key concepts and methods
Familiarize students with critical assessment and interpretation of often misleading common sense knowledge
Discuss how new understandings of social phenomena are achieved and evaluated
Prepare students for lives of civic engagement, develop tolerance for the new and unfamiliar both in local and global context
Provide critical understanding of rights obligations, duties and responsibilities
